Independents Experiencing Real Success with Castle

Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. announced today a new member location in Lachute, Quebec. This new location in the town of Lachute located between Montréal and Gatineau is yet another recent acquisition by the well-known Castle family Godin.

This new Castle location in Lachute marks the second new Groupe Matériaux Godin location in this region. The Godin family already own and operate 4 additional successful locations in the Central region, making this their fifth Castle location. The Lachute location is extensive, and includes a 10,000 sq ft area of retail with over 30,000 sq ft warehouse capacity attached to the retail space.

Delcan Building Materials Ltd.

Delcan Building Materials is the newest venture for owner Patrick De Leeuw who has successfully operated Delpro 1138 Wall & Ceiling Paneling since 2007. Delcan Building Materials may be new to retail lumber, building materials and hardware but they are gearing up to focus on servicing the area’s contractor and renovation market.

Castle Vendor Appreciation Golf Tournament

Mississauga, ON – On Monday September 8th, 2014, The Club at North Halton played host to the 2014 Castle Building Centres Group Vendor Appreciation Golf Tournament. The tourney was held on the rolling greens of this private golf course in the lovely city of Georgetown, ON.

For the past five years, Castle’s annual charity function benefitting the SickKids Foundation was an unbelievable success. This year’s event raised a record $25,000 in charitable donations thanks to the generosity of Castle Valued Vendor Partners.

SickKids is a health-care community dedicated to improving the health of children by providing the best in family-centred, compassionate care, to lead in scientific and clinical advancement, and to prepare the next generation of leaders in child health.

Napanee is a South Eastern Ontario town approximately 40 minutes south of Kingston. The Chapman family began their journey in 1912 on Rover Road in Napanee with the manufacture of brick and clay drain tile and selling and distributing heavy goods and hardware.

In the year 2000, the Chapman family purchased Kimmerly Lumber on Centre Street where they are now looking forward to serving the community as a full service lumber, building materials and hardware store as Castle Building Centres.

Today, together with his wife Sandi and daughter Stacey and their inspiration for continued growth; Hook’s is a fully stocked home improvement centre with 5,000 Sq. Ft. lumber and building materials and a 6 acre lumberyard. In, 2011 Hook’s was awarded the "Outstanding Hardware Retailer of the Year Award" by Hardlines. Castle welcomed their newest member today, Rivest et Fils Ltée, with four locations in the province of Quebec. The St-Isidore location is extensive with 4000 sq ft of retail space and 180 linear sq ft of storefront facing the busy intersection of LIN FT FRONT on HIGHWAY 417. Yorkton Building Supplies is the second location for The Onion Lake First Nation as they also operate All Nations Building Supplies, a flourishing Castle Building Centres location in Onion Lake since 2009. The two locations are successfully operated by the expert management team of Jim Chisholm & Lynda Hawke.

The Yorkton Castle location will include over 25,000 of retail hardware, building supply and home improvement products. The lumberyard occupies a massive 6 acres of land on the Yorkton property and located in a very diverse community and economic base that includes agriculture, mining and manufacturing and is the third largest trading area in Saskatchewan. Yorkton Building Supply is a full service retail building supply store that will focus on serving contractors, do it yourself customers and the local community.

Castle welcomes 2 new independent members in Western Canada

In the past 13 months, Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. has welcomed 21 new members, joining 295 retail, commercial and specialty dealers across Canada. Castle continues its growth and member success, further securing its position as one of the most successful independent buying groups in the country.

Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. continues to gain momentum in 2014 with the announcement of two new independent member locations in Western Canada. Wood Buffalo Building Supplies Inc. in Fort McMurray, Alberta and Woodland Lumber & Building Supplies in Evansburg, Alberta are the newest dealers to join Castle.

1. Wood Buffalo Building Supplies, Fort McMurray, AB

Castle welcomes back Lyle Duke and Jim Litz along with partners Doug Mills and Sheldon Duke; owners of the newest Castle location; Wood Buffalo Building Supplies just 10 minutes South of Fort McMurray in Alberta. All four owner-operators have extensive experience and success in operating LBM and Hardware operations, including former Castle members Lyle and Jim who operated Spruceland Lumber in Fort McMurray almost a decade ago. The store will spread out over 3 acres and is currently operating out of a temporary location as the partners anxiously await the construction of their new location scheduled for Spring 2014.

Wood Buffalo is strategically located in Fort McMurray and booming with consumer, new home construction and commercial projects and will be offering customers a full service home improvement centre to meet all their lumber, building material, and hardware needs.

2. Woodland Lumber & Building Supplies, Evansburg, AB

Woodland Lumber & Building Supplies is a locally owned and operated full service lumber & building material supply operation serving the Evansburg area of Alberta. Evansburg is 55 miles West on the Yellowhead highway and owners Allen & Fern Liknes have operated this family-run operation for over 25 years. The new Castle location has gone through many upgrades over the years and currently occupies 5000 sq. ft. of retail space with a 12000 sq. ft. warehouse and a 3.5 acre lumber yard.

The management team and staff are excited about the transition to Castle and look forward to independence and continued growth for their business with the buying power and the direction of Castle. This Spring Woodland Lumber looks forward to relocating the store to a larger, highway-visible location welcoming new traffic from the local and surrounding area.

Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. announced today a new member location in Lachute, Quebec. This new location in the town of Lachute located between Montréal and Gatineau is yet another recent acquisition by the well-known Castle family Godin.
