Castle Announces New Member Location in Toronto

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.

Castle announced today that Parliament Building Supplies has joined the Castle group. Parliament is strategically located in the bustling urban centre of downtown Toronto, Ontario and in close proximity to major city arteries. The location is a city landmark, who’s history is rich and colourful, spanning over an entire century.

For over 100 years, Parliament Building Supplies have partnered with residential, commercial, and industrial builders, contractors, and homeowners in Toronto. It is also a mission critical supplier to the city’s film and television production companies. Operating from a key location in downtown Toronto, Parliament is a one-stop-shop for lumber and building supplies, while providing expert advice, quality products and rapid turn-around time – all hallmarks of the company’s service oriented approach. Customers are serviced through its 15,000 square foot warehouse and 2 acre site, or via onsite delivery.

Now under new ownership, Parliament has decided to join the Castle group. Castle welcomes new Maritimes member from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

E & J Millworks, specializing in custom millwork design, has been serving the local community with their unique designs as well as a full line of lumber and building materials for almost 40 years. Founded in 1979 by Edward Cottreau, the business has evolved into a thriving custom woodworking, millwork and building materials centre over the years.

Castle member adds second location in Newfoundland

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.

On the East shore of Trinity Bay in Newfoundland, you will find a town called Cavendish and the Jackson family who have owned and operated Cavendish Castle Building Centres for over forty years. This week, Castle announced that Norm Jackson, and sons Ren and Darryl, have added a new retail location, located in New Harbour, just fifteen minutes away from the Cavendish store, Jackson’s Castle Building Centre.

Norm Jackson, founder of Cavendish Castle and Norm’s Lumberyard, is excited about the expansion. “We are looking forward to better serving our loyal customers around Trinity Bay” Norm Jackson, Founder.

The new location will be managed by son Ren Jackson; son Darryl will stay on as manager of the existing Cavendish location, and Norm will oversee operations at both locations. The new location offers a more spacious design and an extended product assortment including lumber, building materials, tools and hardware. Ren, who has extensive experience in the home improvement retail industry, is ready to share his knowledge with local contractors and customers and has aligned himself with a team of professionals to take the family business to new heights.

Castle continues growth in Atlantic Canada

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.

Castle announced today a new member location in the Maritime town of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, on the northern shore of Bras d'Or Lake on Cape Breton Island. Baddeck Building Supplies Company Limited is the newest independent to join the Castle group.

Established in 1967 during Canada’s historic centennial year, founder James MacDonald opened the doors as a full-service drive-thru lumberyard, building materials and hardware store. Baddeck Building Supplies has supplied the local community with all their construction and home improvement needs for almost 50 years and has also been a Pittsburgh paint dealer for over 40 years.

Castle welcomes a new location in Ottawa

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.

North Gower, Ontario is the home of The Old Co-op, Castle’s newest member location in the Central Region. The new Castle Building Centres is located just outside of Ottawa in a historical building, serving the local community for almost 130 years.

Since the store’s establishment in 1846, The Old Co-op has been a landmark in the local community and the go-to location for building supplies, hardware, outdoor gear and farming supplies. The business was taken over by new management five years ago and owner Pat Lambert, who also operates a local construction company, has significantly grown the home improvement category. Over the years they have expanded into many new product categories, including a small custom shed design/build service. The Old Co-op is active in their community and pride themselves on customer service and the team is looking forward to serving the community as the newest Castle Building Centres in town.

Castle Member Grows Locally in NB

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.

Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. announced a new member location in New Brunswick.

The newest Castle location is situated in the town of Nackawic, NB, located along the Saint John River Valley, in the designated Forestry Capital of Canada. The new retail store is the second location for the Mahar family who have been operating Topmar Building Supplies for over 46 years.

Topmar is a locally owned family business, originally founded in 1964 as the construction company Thompson & Mahar, and later opened its doors as Topmar Building Supplies. They have been serving Fredericton’s contractors and homeowners with their lumber, building material and hardware needs for more than four decades.

Castle Grows Again in Atlantic Canada - Moffett’s Hardware, Sussex, NB

Castle continues to build momentum in the Maritimes and announced yet another new member location in the province of New Brunswick.

Located in Sussex, NB, Moffett’s Hardware is a local business in the community for an astounding 94 years. First started in 1922 by Sterling Moffett in the town of Sussex, the family business has been handed down from generation to generation. In the mid-40s, Dave Moffett, son of Sterling, joined the business and in the early 70s he passed the business down to his own son, Don Moffett. Wolf Creek Building Supplies Acquires New Location in Sylvan Lake, Alberta

Mississauga, ON - Castle announced today that current shareholder Wolf Creek Building Supplies has acquired a second lumber and building materials retail location from a competing banner; this time in Sylvan Lake, Alberta.

Wolf Creek Building Supplies Sylvan Lake is situated in the rapidly expanding community of Sylvan Lake, approximately 25 kilometres west of Red Deer. Before the acquisition, the store location had been serving the contractors, home owners and seasonal visitors to the community for over 15 years and will now open the doors as Castle Building Centres.

The Wolf Creek Group of Companies, who transitioned to Castle only a few years ago, currently operates a retail location in Lacombe, Wolf Creek Building Supplies, a full service lumber, building material and hardware store. The group also operates a designer showroom located in the heart of Red Deer, AB bringing together top window and door brands in a bright and inspiring showroom space.

Johnson Hardware Joins Castle

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd. announced today that the newest member location is Johnson Hardware located in Killarney, Manitoba. Johnson Hardware is the newest hardware retailer in town, which opened its doors on Main Street in the town of Killarney.

When two local hardware stores closed their doors in Killarney last year, owner Brendin Johnson recognized the opportunity to provide a one-stop hardware store and serve his community with better selection and service than his nearby competitors. He wanted to offer local contractors and consumers with products that had previously been unavailable in the area.

Castle Newest Member is Located in Atlantic Canada

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.

Castle is pleased to announce their newest member is located in the Atlantic Canada region of Labrador.

B W Powell is located in Charlottetown, Labrador, a town said to be founded by none-other than Benjamin Powell himself in the early 1940’s. Benjamin Powell, known to most as “Trapper Ben”, and founder of B W Powell in 1946, has a rich and colorful history and was essentially the architect of this small Atlantic community. The business started out as one of the first sawmills in Labrador producing up to a million board feet of lumber in a single year with very limited resources.

B W Powell expanded over the years and has evolved into a full supply general store providing many other necessities to the community. Ben’s son Irving Powell took over ownership of the business in 1992 along with his sister Marie. The decision to become part of the Castle group was prompted by the need to grow the business by having more buying power and becoming more profitable.

A New Castle location in Brandon, MB

Brandon, Manitoba is the home of Castle’s newest member location in Western Canada already this year, Westman Lumber Supply.

Located a few hours from Winnipeg, Westman Lumber Supply opened its doors as the brand new Castle in town, a full-service retail home improvement store and lumberyard. The new Castle location will cater to the growing community of contractors and DIY consumers in Brandon and the surrounding area.

Partner Evan Keller is excited about the new venture and had this to say “Castle was the perfect fit for Westman Lumber Supply. Castle Welcomes New First Nations Member Location

Mississauga, ON - Castle Building Centres Group Ltd.

After another record year, Castle announced today their newest member location in Western Canada. The first new Castle location of 2016 can be found in Fisher River: a Cree Community located approximately 200 kilometres north of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Castle Fisher River Building Supplies is now under construction and the project is led by visionary Chief David Crate and his Council.

For the past three years, the Fisher River community has experienced tremendous growth and expansion, and as such, their need for a local building supply source continued to climb. When the decision was made to open a building centre in town, the decision was Castle Building Centres.
